Ruth E. Nichols

Ruth E. Nichols (nee Wilson), 87, of Elyria, was called home Tuesday January 13, 2026. She was born October 3, 1938 in Elyria and was a 1956 graduate of Elyria High School.  From 1956-1960, she held an administration position for Elyria Lace Factory. She volunteered as a teacher’s aid while her son and grandchildren were in grade school.   Ruth was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Elyria where she was church treasurer and a Sunday School Teacher.  She enjoyed crafting, sewing, gardening, camping with her husband, bowling and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Ruth is survived by her sister, Rosemary Jost; grandchildren, Justin (Emily) Brewer, Blake (Dana) Brewer and Joe (Brenda) Brewer; 11 great-grandchildren; nephew, David Scott and was an aunt to several family members in Tennessee.

She was preceded in death by her father, William Wilson; mother, Rose Wilson Jost; stepfather, Henry “Hank” Jost; first husband, L.B. Brewer; second husband, Rainey Gordon Nichols; son, Robin “Rob” Brewer’ brother, Billy Wilson; sister, Anna Scott and nephew, Allen Scott.

Friends will be received Monday, January 19, 2026 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Dicken Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 323 Middle Avenue, Elyria.  A funeral service will be Tuesday, January 20, 2026 at 10:30 am in the funeral home with Pastor Jeff Smith officiating.  Burial will follow in Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon.
