Sally L Ruth

Sally L. Ruth (Nee Davies), 85, of Elyria, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family December 10, 2025. She was born August 29, 1940, in Elyria, where she remained a lifelong resident. Sally graduated from Elyria High School and was a beloved member of the community.

Sally's passion for the arts was evident and she shared her love of music and creativity with others. Her dedication to Elyria schools was recognized in 2018 when she was awarded the Distinguished Volunteer for her remarkable contributions and presidency in the Elyria City Schools and Friends Alumni Association.

A lifetime member of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, Sally found joy in spending time with her family and her companion dog, Babe. She was also an avid supporter of The Ohio State Buckeyes.

Sally is survived by daughters; Beth (Jim) McNulty and Sandra (Rob) Vidovich, both of Elyria; Susan (Greg) Willoughby of South Amherst; Nancy (Kenny) Borgia of North Ridgeville and Heidi (Tim) Knapp of Grafton; son, Chip (Jane) Heginbotham of Gilbert, AZ; stepsons Edward (Peggie) Ruth of Elyria and Michael (Pam) Ruth of Mt. Gilead; stepdaughter Patti (Kirk) Gott of Wellington;  grandchildren Emily, Shaemus, Hope, Jared, Ian, Kyle, Ryan, Maria, Joseph, Anthony, Abby, Alexis,  Donald,  Dustin, Matthew, Christopher, Ryan, Jennifer, Kelly, Kristin, Jarrett, Alex and Brieanna; 32 great-grandchildren, with whom she cherished many joyful moments and a sister, Marcia (Andy) Palagyi of Lorain.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Vivian Davies; husband, Bill Ruth, with whom she shared 29 wonderful years of marriage; brother, John; and a sister, Nancy.

Sally will be remembered for her vibrant spirit, unwavering dedication to family and community, and her love for life. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness and passion that will forever be in the hearts of those who knew her.

Friends will be received Friday, December 19, 2025 from 11:00 am until the time of a 12:00 pm service at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, 300 Third Street, Elyria with Reverend June Hardy Dorsey, Rector officiating.  Inurnment will follow in Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon.
