Sandra L. Shafer (nee Ashley), 73, of Lorain, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ Sunday, November 17, 2024 at Ames Family Hospice, Westlake. She was born January 13, 1951 in Lorain, was a 1969 graduate of Clearview High School and during that time, she had worked at The Hoop Restaurant. From 1970-1972, Sandy served with the US Air Force and was stationed in Alabama as an office secretary. She attended LCCC and studied accounting, but did not pursue that career, instead devoted herself to the more important roles of wife and mother. Sandy was also employed at Advent Industries and various restaurants in the Lorain County area including Denny’s in Amherst. She was a solid Christian and attended Trinity Baptist Church and Cornerstone Bible Fellowship. She enjoyed reading her bible and spreading the gospel, not only in word but by her many selfless deeds, helping anyone in need. She showed the evidence of her faith in Christ through the fruits of spirit and most importantly she was always very quick to forgive.
Sandy had a great sense of humor and loved to joke around. She loved her family and was also an animal lover. She enjoyed playing cards, board games, and baking especially for the holidays. She was well known for her famous nut roll.
Sandy is survived by her children, Scott Shafer of Lorain, Kelly (Mark) Jacko of Wellington and Stephanie Shafer of Lorain; grandchildren, Ariel, Joey, Chantz and Lexi; great-grandchildren, J.J., Gio and Lennox; siblings, Christine, Julia, Patricia and Kenneth and five nieces.
