Saundra R. Porter

Saundra Sandy R. Porter (nee: Reed), 73, of Elyria, went to be with her loving Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ (2 Corinthians 5:1-10), September 4, 2010, after a brief illness.
She was born June 4, 1937 in Cleveland, Ohio and graduated from Chagrin Falls High School in 1955. She has been living in Elyria since 1995.
From the time Sandy decided to follow Jesus in 1954, she was involved in church and related activities; attending Youth for Christ meetings, teaching Sunday school and serving on mission committees. She was a long time supporter of multiple sponsored children through Christian relief agencies. She enjoyed singing and participated with her husband in duets and community choruses. She was a full time homemaker, wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She enjoyed reading, crafts, cooking, sending handmade greeting cards to people and spending time with her grandchildren.
Sandy leaves a loving husband of 51 years, Robert; sons Matthew of Elyria and Jonathan (Sharon) of Minneapolis; daughter Rebecca (Tim) Yoder of South Euclid and eight grandchildren. She is also survived by sisters Paula (Ed) Drury of Avon Lake, Cynthia Reed of Elyria and Nona (Ernie) Jackson of Elyria and numerous additional family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Helen (nee: Sotz) Reed and a granddaughter, Heather Porter.
Friends may call Saturday, September 18, 2010, from 9-11 a.m. at Calvary Baptist Church; 214 Hope Court, Elyria, Ohio. A Celebration of a Life service will be held immediately following at 11:00 a.m. in the church auditorium.
