Sheila M. Leininger

Sheila M. Leininger (nee Sand), 85, of Elyria, died October 22, 2023 in her home.  She was born September 27, 1938 in Elyria where she was a 1956 graduate of Elyria High School and a

lifelong resident.  She was formerly employed at Yellow Cab Company, Bendix Corporation and Ohio Screw Products.  Her interests included bowling, traveling, taking pictures, word search and crossword puzzles.  Sheila collected lake glass from Lake Erie, bears, postcards, magnets and stickers. 

Sheila is survived by step-daughters, Carol Jean Webb of North Ridgeville, Mary Jane Wilcox of Grayling, MI and JoAnne Lodge of Grafton; 6 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; sister, Kaaren Sand of Elyria; brothers, Edwin “Butch” Sand of Lorain and Richard Sand of Myrtle Beach, SC and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Leonard “Lenny” Leininger in 2020; step-son, Leonard Leininger; brothers, Calvin Sand and Ronald Sand and parents, LaVern and Bernice Sand.

Friends will be received Monday, October 30, 2023 from 3:00 pm until the time of a 5:00 pm service at Dicken Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 323 Middle Avenue, Elyria with Pastor Troy Smith officiating.  Burial will be in Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon.
