Violet M. Kavanaugh
Violet May Kavanaugh, 84, of Oberlin, died Tuesday, October 19, 2010 at Keystone Pointe Rehabilitation & Health Center in LaGrange, where she has lived for the past year.
She was born May 1, 1926 in Chicago, IL and attended Augustana College in Rock Island, IL.
She worked many years in the field of nursing and was dedicated to the profession. She has lived most of her life in the Midwest, Connecticut and Florida before moving to Oberlin in 1999 to be closer to her family.
She was active in the Lutheran Church and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, gardening, feeding the birds, dancing and traveling to Norway, Sweden, Ireland and Finland.
Violet is survived by her daughters Pamela A. (James) Kavanaugh of Huntingdon, PA; Lisa A. (Michael) Kavanaugh and Kimberly A. (Scott) Kosman, both of Oberlin; six grandchildren; one great grandson; her dear cousin Mae Tappendorf of Clearview, IL and half sister Ruth Wiklund of Sweden.
She was preceded in death by a brother Gordon Person; half brother Goran Kareliusson-Sterner and parents William & Annie (nee Engberg) Lundgren.
Visitation will be Thursday, October 21, 2010 from 11:30 a.m. until the time of a 12:30 p.m. funeral service at Dicken Funeral Home, 323 Middle Ave. Elyria. Reverend Danny Wright will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Keystone Pointe Rehabilitation & Health Center, 383 Opportunity Way, LaGrange, OH 44050.
