William R. Buck Mugford
William R. Buck Mugford, 68, a resident of Elyria and Lorain, died Tuesday March 23, 2010 at Lake Pointe Health Center in Lorain. He was born March 12, 1942 in Boston, Massachusetts. He attended Camp Lejeune High School in Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, while his father was serving in the Marine Corps and graduated from Lorain High School in 1960. He served as an M.P. with the U.S. Army, from 1966 to 1968 and was stationed in Germany. He was employed for 17 years as a case worker at the Lorain County Department of Human Services. He was a former member of the Elyria United Polish Club, avid golfer and enjoyed sports and spending time with his friends at the Elyria Bowling Center. William is survived by a daughter, Danielle (Cory) Akau of Las Vegas, Nevada; granddaughters, Shanti and Triniti Akau; nephew and caregiver Paul Mugford and nephews Rod and John Mugford. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Mugford in 1997; father John F. Mugford in 2008 and a brother John H. Mugford in 2005. Visitation will be Thursday from noon until the time of a 1:00 P.M. funeral service at Dicken Funeral Home, 323 Middle Avenue, Elyria. Deacon John Slatcoff of St. Vincent De Paul Church will officiate. Burial will be in Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon where Elyria V.F.W. #1079 will conduct military honors.
