Wilma J. Denman (nee Sorrell), 101, of Elyria, died Saturday December 28, 2024 in her home. She was born April 27, 1923 in Glouster, Ohio, was a graduate of Glouster High School moving to Elyria in 1941. Wilma had been a library volunteer in the Elyria City Schools and was a member of Y MEGS. She enjoyed bowling, gardening, crocheting and was an avid reader.
Wilma is survived by a son, Michael L. (Mary Lou) Denman of Elyria; daughters, Cathy J. (Frederick) George of Wellington and Tamara L. Broome of Elyria; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one great-great grandson and a sister-in-law, Elmira Sorrell of LaGrange.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Earl B. in 1998; parents, Charlie and Eva Sorrell; brothers, Charles, Leonard and Frank Sorrell and sisters, Rhea Whitlatch, Helen Mellinger, Charleseinne Puhaly and Mary Margaret Petrus.
Friends will be received Thursday, January 2, 2025 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Dicken Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 323 Middle Avenue, Elyria. A graveside service will be Friday, January 3, 2025 at 11:00 am at Brookdale Cemetery with Chaplain Edward Morris of Hospice of the Western Reserve officiating.
