Alex VargoAlex Vargo, 93, of Elyria, died, November 3, 2017. He was born September 11, 1924 in Martins Ferry, Ohio and was a 1942 graduate of Charles Shreve High School. During WWII Alex served as a Corporal in The United States Army. For three years he studied at the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music. Alex had a forty year career in banking including Cleveland Savings & Trust and retired in 1986 as vice president of Barnett Bank in Hallandale, Florida. His interests included music, woodworking, gardening and travel.Alex is survived by a niece, Donna (Robert) Trosch of Saint Clairsville, Ohio; nephews, James (Jackie) Headley and Gregory (Nancy) Edgehouse and friends, Richard Edwards and Donald Piccirillo.He was preceded in death by his companion, James T. Gotro; parents, Alex and Amelia Vargo; sisters, Pearl Headley and Jean Edgehouse and brothers, Joseph and John Vargo.Burial will be in Brookdale Cemetery Elyria.Dicken Funeral Home & Cremation Service is handling arrangements.
