Alfred C. Smith, Sr., 75 of Fairview Park, formerly of Grafton area, died Wednesday, January 25, 2012 at Fairview Hospital, Cleveland.He was born April 19, 1936 in Elyria and was a 1954 graduate of Eaton School.In addition to working for Ford Motor Company in Brookpark for over 30 years as an electrician in maintenance, he was formerly employed as an electrician at Novak Electric and he owned and operated Smith Electric. He was a life member of I.B.E.W. Local #1377. He enjoyed racing go carts, traveling, country music and going to the Lorain County Fair.Al is survived by daughters Katherine Katie (Chuck) Wade of Elyria and Judy (Bernie) Honrine of Inverness, FL; sons Thomas (Rose) Smith of Brookpark, Ron (Pam) Smith, Alfred (Marian) Smith, Jr. and Jeff (Edie) Smith, all of Elyria; stepsons John (Annie) Slater of Berea, Tom (Mary) Slater of Elyria and Tim (Marilyn) Slater of New London; 13 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his parents Frank J. and Helen K. (nee Wolfe) Smith. Friends will be received Sunday, January 29, 2012 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Dicken Funeral Home, 323 Middle Ave., Elyria where a funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 30, 2012.
