Alice L. Moyes (nee: Lear)Alice L. Moyes (nee: Lear), 97, of Elyria passed away August 2, 2017 at Welcome Nursing Home, Oberlin, OH. She was born April 17, 1920 in Westmoreland City, PA to William and Ruth (nee: Saddler) Lear and was a 1938 graduate of Norwin High School in Irwin, PA. Her family moved to Elyria in 1941 with Bendix-Westinghouse where she was employed for thirteen years. She married Alexander Moyes in 1947 and started a family. Alice was a member of First United Presbyterian Church and a life member of Elyria VFW # 1079 Ladies Auxiliary. Her family was her life and she enjoyed spending time with them and playing bingo. She was a fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Cleveland Indians and Cavaliers.She leaves to cherish her memory sons, Randy (Laura) Moyes of LaGrange and Terry (Jean) Moyes of Elyria; daughters, Nancy (Joe) Gilkerson of Amherst and Susan Moyes (Craig Nixon) of Elyria; daughter-in-law, Linda Ott of Oberlin; eleven grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; brother, Floyd Lear of Lorain; sister, Sybila Miller of NC and numerous nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her husband of forty six years, Alexander “Sandy” in 1993; an infant son in 1951; son, Larry in 2014; daughter-in-law, Gail Moyes; brothers, William "Jess", John, Elton "Kuk" and James "Jim" Lear and a sister, Edna “Sis” Finley.A funeral service will be Monday August 7, 2017 at 6:30 PM followed by visitation until 8:00 PM at Dicken Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 323 Middle Avenue, Elyria. Burial will be in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township.Friends will also be received Sunday August 13, 2017 from 3:00 PM until 5:00 PM at Elyria VFW # 1079, 500 South Abbe Road Elyria where a celebration of life service will be at 4:00 PM. Reverend Arnold Flagle, Pastor of Trinity Evangelical Free Church, Amherst will officiate.
