Ann M. Bittner Ann M. Bittner (nee Reidinger), 84, a resident of Wesleyan Meadows, Sheffield Village died, January 24, 2020 at Wesleyan Village, Elyria. She was born December 7, 1935 in Shamokin, PA. After graduating in 1953 from St. Edward’s High School in Shamokin she moved to Elyria. Ann was formerly employed at Muir’s Drug Store, Rigbee’s Bargain Town and General Industries all in Elyria and Western Auto, Grafton. She and her husband, Edward moved to Grafton and for forty years enjoyed a happy family life. For thirty three years Edward was employed at NASA as a scientist who earned his Ph.D at the age of thirty. One of the stabilizing forces in Ann’s life has been her Christian faith. Her church home is Saint Agnes Catholic Church, Elyria, where she was a Eucharistic Minister and was also a former member of Sacred Heart Church. She was one of the original founders of The Hospitality House in Elyria, a member of Midview Women’s Club and had been a girl scout leader. She was a member of the Audubon Society, and enjoyed watching and feeding the birds, the major museums in Cleveland and arts and crafts. Ann is survived by a daughter, Valerie Hayes-Rafferty of Elyria; son, Matthew Bittner of Avon; grandson, Aaron Bittner of Omaha, NE and sisters, Jean Toombs of Rome, NY and Laurie Hofts of Plant City, FL. She was preceded in death by her husband, of forty four years, Edward C. in 2001; parents, Carl and Mary Reidinger; step-mother, Betty Reidinger and a brother, Francis Reidinger. Friends will be received Thursday January 30, 2020 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Dicken Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 323 Middle Avenue, Elyria. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday January 31, 2020 at 11:00 AM at Saint Agnes Catholic Church, 611 Lake Avenue, Elyria. Reverend Albert Veigas will be the officiant. Private burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Grafton. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Agnes Catholic Church.
