Arlene Elizabeth Knepper (nee:Wallhead)Arlene Elizabeth Knepper (nee: Wallhead), 83, of Elyria, died November 11, 2017 in her home. She was born November 5, 1934 in Elyria. Arlene was a 1952 graduate of Elyria High School and enjoyed participating in monthly alumni gatherings. For thirty seven years she and her husband were owner/operators of the Greyhound bus stations in Lorain and Elyria. After retirement she enjoyed cooking, visiting friends, exercising with the Silver Sneakers and spending winters in Florida. Other interests included bird watching and collecting angels. Arlene’s Sunday pie baking days were famous. She was especially proud to teach her great granddaughters those skills.Arlene will be missed by her daughters, Sheila Smith and Dawna White; grandchildren, Lisa (Jason) Ward and Jeremy (Heidi) Smith; great granddaughters, Marisa, Theresa and Lydia; siblings, Bill (Diane) Wallhead, Audrey (Jack) Price and Barb Opfer and several nieces, nephews and her caregivers.She was preceded in death by her husband of sixty four years, D.A. Knepper in 2016; infant daughter, Gayle; grandson, Darrell Harris; parents, William and Margaret Wallhead; brother, Don Wallhead and son-in-law, Clifford “Smitty” Smith.Friends will be received Monday November 13, 2017 from 3:00 to 6:00 PM at Dicken Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 323 Middle Avenue, Elyria. A committal service will be Tuesday November 14, 2017 at 10:30 AM at Brookdale Cemetery followed by an 11:30 AM service at Washington Avenue Christian Church, 301 Washington Avenue, Elyria. Reverend Dr. Janet A. Long will officiate. Memorial contributions may be made to the church or a charity of choice.
