Arlene J. SahrArlene J. Sahr (nee: Northeim), 95, of Sheffield Village and formerly of Elyria died, September 19, 2018. She was born November 23, 1922 in Brownhelm, OH. She was a 1940 graduate of Brownhelm High School and also graduated from the Cleveland Academy of Cosmetology. Arlene was a member of Community of Faith United Church of Christ and a former member of Lake Avenue United Church of Christ where she had been Sunday School Superintendent, Women’s Association president, sang in the choir, was church clerk, a deaconess and served on the Christian Education Board. She was a member of Forthurs of the Elyria YWCA and General Motors Wheels Club. She enjoyed gardening, flower decorating, crafts and decorated her home for the seasons of the year, using her collection of snowmen and bunnies.Arlene is survived by a cousin, Shirley Kitchen; sister-in-law, Velma Sahr; niece, Bonnie Capman and her special friends.She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald L. Sahr in 1985; sons, Donald in 1988, Richard in 2006 and parents, Arthur and Esther Northeim.A special thank you goes to the wonderful care she received from Hospice of the Western Reserve and the caregivers of Home Instead. A memorial service will be Monday October 1, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Community of Faith United Church of Christ, 9715 East River Road, Elyria with Reverend Kathryn Ketchum officiating. Burial will be in Brownhelm Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Community of Faith United Church of Christ or The Elyria Salvation Army, 716 W Broad Street, Elyria 44035. Arrangements are in the care of Dicken Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Elyria.
