Arthur F. Livergood, 90, of Elyria, died Thursday, November 8, 2012 at Life Care Center of Elyria.He was born November 11, 1921 in Richmond, IN and moved to Steubenville, OH as a child, graduating from Steubenville Wells High School in 1940. He served with the U.S. Army Signal Corps and Air Corps in Iceland during WWII and then attended the University of Illinois Champaign-Urbana and graduated from Millikin University in Decatur, Illinois where he was a member of Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity.He had been employed at J.C. Penney Co. in Steubenville and Hamilton, OH; Bendix Aviation Corporation in Hamilton; Lear Romec in Elyria and was manager of after market sales at Airborne Division, Parker Hannifin in Elyria, retiring in 1985.Art was a member of First Congregational United Church of Christ, Elyria where he sang in the choir and had served on the board of trustees. He had a deep interest in music, especially the organ, had been a Cleveland Orchestra season ticket holder and had played drums in the Patriot Band. He was a member and twice president of Elyria Kiwanis Club and lieutenant governor of the 13th Division of The Ohio District.He was a student of aviation history, a pilot and a member of the Experimental Aircraft Association and the American Aviation Historical Society. He was a former member of Elyria Senior Fellowship, the Gashouse Gang and the Cosmopolitan Dance Club, where he and his wife served as secretaries. Art is survived by his wife of 65 years, Natalie K. Nan; daughter Cheryl (Robert) Tacconelli of Woodbine, GA; grandchildren Jeff (Julie) and Kevin Jowett, Leslie (Kevin) Higgins and Stephanie Dembski, Sergeant First Class U.S. Army; five great grandchildren and a sister Barbara Patterson of Scottsdale, AZHe was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Leslie Kay Livergood; daughter Barbara Jo Jowett September 2, 2012 and parents Elmer and Edna Livergood.Friends will be received Monday, November 12, 2012 from 4 to 6 p.m. at Dicken Funeral Home, 323 Middle Ave. Elyria. A memorial service will be Tuesday, November 13, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in First Congregational United Church of Christ, 330 Second Street, Elyria, OH with Reverend Christina Kukuk officiating.
