Bernard E. McDivittBernard E. McDivitt, 84, of Elyria, died March 13, 2019 at University Hospitals Elyria Medical Center. He was born August 6, 1934 in Shawnee, Ohio and was a 1952 graduate of Elyria High School.For many years he worked as an auto mechanic and then was employed as a mechanic at Lake Terminal Railroad, Lorain, Ohio retiring in 1994. He enjoyed NASCAR, baseball, football, and attending his granddaughter, Katie’s softball games. Bernard is survived by daughters, Linda A. (Russell) Bowles of Elyria and Cathy J. Conger of Wimauma, FL; and a grandson, Christopher Conger.He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Mary Lou (nee Solt) McDivitt in 2013; granddaughter, Katie L. Bowles in 2014; brothers, William and Robert McDivitt; sister Jean Ellen Stevenson; and his parents, William and Gertrude McDivitt.Friends will be received Monday, March 18, 2019 from 10:00 am until the time of a 12 noon service at Dicken Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 323 Middle Ave., Elyria. Pastor Josh Workman will officiate. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
