Bernard Flinn Obituary
Bernard R. Flinn, 87, of Elyria, died February 7, 2014 at Louis Stokes Cleveland VA Medical Center. He was born October 24, 1926 in Parkersburg, WV and graduated from Farmington High School. Bernard served from June 8, 1945 to November 24, 1946 in the US Army. He was stationed in Nurnberg, Germany at the Palace Of Justice, an international military tribunal where 21 prisoners charged with war crimes were on trial. His duties were as a guard and escort for the prisoners.From 1957-1969 Bernie worked for Dairymens Milk Division of Wayne Corp, Cleveland. He was then employed for 20 years as building superintendent and chief engineer at Sears Midway Mall retiring in 1989. He had been active in scouting and as a union officer.Bernie is survived his wife of 53 years, Dolores A.; sons, Scott (Anna) Flinn of Parma and Dana (Debra) Flinn of Cape Coral, FL; grandchildren, Alex, Casey and Tiffany Flinn and a sister, Rose Kowalski of Erma, WI.He was preceded in death by his parents, Harley and Ellen Flinn and a sister, Elizabeth Jean Gatian. A memorial service was held at the Louis Stokes Cleveland VA Medical Center. Burial will be in Shinnston, West Virginia. For online condolences, visit www.dickenfuneralhome.com
