Bernice Kay Smith (nee Berner) 74, of North Ridgeville, passed away Thursday, July 26, 2012 at Center Ridge Health Campus, North Ridgeville.She was born May 17, 1938 in Amherst and has been a resident of LaGrange and Grafton areas most of her life.She enjoyed bingo, playing cards, cooking, attending the county fair, Amish country, her dogs and spending time with her family.Bernice is survived by daughters Katherine Kate (Chuck) Wade of Elyria and Judith (Bernie) Honrine of Inverness, FL; sons Thomas (Rose) Smith of Brookpark; Ronald (Pam) Smith, Alfred (Marian) Smith, Jr. and Jeffrey (Edie) Smith, all of Elyria; 13 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren; brothers Edwin Berner, Sr. of LaGrange and Leroy Berner of N. Carolina; sisters Delores Krusz of Elyria and Wilma Ruder of N. Ridgeville; and several nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents Carl and Katherine Berner; former husband Alfred C. Smith, Sr. in January of 2012; brothers William Joy and Carl Berner, Jr. and infant sister Betty Berner.Friends will be received Sunday, July 29, 2012 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Dicken Funeral Home, 323 Middle Ave., Elyria, where a service will be Monday, July 30, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. Burial will be in Butternut Ridge Cemetery, Eaton Township.
