Betty L. Watson (nee: Newberger), 91, of Elyria, died October 16, 2011 in Fountain Valley, California. She was born December 19, 1919 in Lorain, attended Elyria High School and lived in Elyria until 2000 when she moved to California. She and her husband owned and operated K. Watson Trucking Company in Elyria for 30 years and was then employed for 25 years by Higbee Company at Midway Mall. Betty was a former member and worthy matron of Elyria Chapter No. 165 Order of Eastern Star and Bethel Shrine No. 24 Order of White Shrine of Jerusalem. She had also been active with the Rainbow Girls and enjoyed singing and dancing. Betty is survived by a son, Dennis B. (Dorothy) Watson of Costa Mesa, California; daughter, Deborah A. (John) Jennings of Georgia; 6 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild and a niece, Beverly I. Taylor of Elyria. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth R. Watson in 1995; sisters, Daisy Newberger and Myrtle Farr and a brother, Clyde Newberger. A graveside service will be Tuesday 10:00 AM October 25, 2011 at Butternut Ridge Cemetery in Eaton Township. Reverend Jonathan McCleery will officiate and Amherst Stone City Chapter No. 325 OES will conduct a service. Dicken Funeral Home, Elyria is in charge of arrangements.
