A candle was lit in remembrance
Betty retired before I started working at Ely however she continued to have an impact through substitute teaching and her work in professional organizations. Betty’s kindness touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. She had a special way of making people feel welcome, and her thoughtful mentorship meant so much to so many. I will always remember her delicious baked treats and the warmth she brought into every room. My deepest condolences to her family.
She truly was a patient woman. Especially with me. Please, fly high Mrs. Salisbury. I'm sorry for all the terrorizing I did.
I was one of her students (many years ago). My favorite memory was the time we had a substitute. We played the traditional "trade seats/names" on the sub. Upon her return Mrs. Salisbury sternly addressed our misbehavior and after we were all properly scolded and ashamed. She stared at us in silence and then quietly said "but I'm proud that you all worked as a team to pull it off". She was an amazing teacher and I'm so grateful for her kindness and understanding.
