Bill Howington, 86, of Elyria, died June 21, 2017. He was born February 10, 1931 in Elizabethton, TN, moving to Elyria in 1953. Bill was a 1949 graduate of Newland High School, Newland, NC and attended Warren Wilson College in Ashville, NC. During the Korean War, Bill served as a sergeant in the United States Marine Corps, stationed in Korea and received several unit and personal medals. For 15 years, he was employed as a maintenance electrician at Bendix Corporation and then for 10 years at Timm Springs Company, from where he retired in 1993. Since 1961, Bill has been a member at First United Presbyterian Church in Elyria, where he had also served as an elder. Bill was active with Cub Scouts and Boy Scout Troop No. 144 at Allen School in Elyria and also with Little League North Baseball. Bill is survived by his wife of 64 years, Josil; daughters, Carolyn (Robert) Huston of Amherst, Barbara (Allen) Peterson of Wheaton, IL and Joyce (Keith) Sibert of Elyria; son Charles (Rosemary) Howington of Lake Saint Louis, MO; 10 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; sisters Hazel Boyette and Helen Ernst and a brother Joe Howington, all of Johnson City, TN. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Brian T. Huston, parents Joseph Howington and Marjorie Stewart, sisters Betty LeBlanc, Dorothy Lancaster and Mary LeForge and a brother Tony Howington. Friends will be received Monday, June 26, 2017 from 10 a.m. until the time of an 11:00 a.m. Celebration of Life Service at First United Presbyterian Church, 200 East Ave. Elyria. Reverend Dr. Malcolm Peel will officiate. Burial will be in Brookdale Cemetery, Elyria. Memorial contributions may be made to First United Presbyterian Church or The Brian T.
