Billy J. Hopkins' Obituary
Billy J. Hopkins, 89, of Elyria, passed away peacefully Friday July 31, 2026 in his home. He was born February 7, 1937 in Skelton, WV and moved to Elyria in 1960. He was an automatic door installer for Cleveland Door Control, retiring in 1999. After retiring, Billy was known as being a handyman for anyone who needed something repaired. He enjoyed woodworking, building furniture and making anything out of wood.
Billy is survived by grandchildren, Stacie Sokolowski, Greg (Kimberly) Walter, Joshua (Maggie) Hopkins, Jenna (Derrick) Heindel, Nicki (Kenny) Prince, Tara (Justin) May, Chandel (Scott) Dusenbury and T.J. (Andrea) Hopkins; seventeen great-grandchildren; and many other family members.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Ella in 2023; sons, Timothy in 2013 and Gregory in 2022; sister, Betty Bailey and parents, Marvin and Authella Hopkins.
Friends will be received Friday, August 7, 2026 from 3:00 pm until the time of a 6:00 pm service at Dicken, Dovin & Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 323 Middle Avenue, Elyria with Pastor Justin May officiating.
