Bonnie L. RothgeryBonnie L. Rothgery, 80, of Gold Canyon, AZ and formerly of Elyria, died December 18, 2018. She was born October 3, 1938 in Elyria, where she was a lifelong resident prior to making her permanent home in Gold Canyon, AZ in 2012. She was a 1956 graduate of Elyria High School and was employed from August 1, 1956 to July 31, 1996 at Northern Savings & Loan Company in Elyria, retiring as Vice President of customer relations and human resources. Bonnie is a member of Mountainview Lutheran Church, Apache Junction, AZ. She was a former member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Lorain and also a former member of Grace Lutheran Church, Elyria where she served on the board of directors as treasurer and financial secretary and had been a member of the Altar Guild, Property Commission and Offering Teller. She was active in Thrivent Financial For Lutherans and served on the board of trustees of the Lutheran Home in Westlake and the executive secretary committee at Lorain County Vocational School. For eleven years, she was a volunteer at EMH Regional Medical Center and enjoyed attending movies, playing cards and traveling.Bonnie is survived by a niece, Stephanie L. McPhail, Naples, FL; great nephews, Jeremy and Joshua Gilmore; great niece, Jennifer Schwartz-Trueman; great great niece, Hailey Schwartz; aunt, Rita Marie Smith of Huntington Beach, CA; caregiver, Sue Lawrence and her family, Jamie, Sylas, Sabree and Mack of Globe, AZ and cousins, including her special cousin and godchild, Bonnie Egan of Euclid, OH.She was preceded in death by her father, Edward J. Rothgery in 1986; mother, Edna L. Rothgery in 1987 and a sister, Carol Ann Pruski in 1981.A graveside service will be Monday January 7, 2019 at 1:00 PM at Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township. Reverend Dr. Peter Mealwitz will officiate. Memorial contributions may be made to Montainview Lutheran Church, 2122 South Goldfield Road, Apache Junction, AZ 85117, First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1019 W Fifth Street, Lorain 44052 or a charity of donor’s choice.
