Brittany Nicole Smith, 40, of Elyria, died Sunday, March 15, 2026 at her home. She was born December 3, 1985 in Oberlin and was a 2004 graduate of North Ridgeville High School where she also attended JVS her junior and senior year. She was employed at Murray Ridge Production Center for 9 years and was a member of North Eaton Church of God, where she loved attending and worshipping God. Brittany loved spending time with her family, reading romance novels, cooking, arts and crafts including making her own greeting cards, working with her friends, music, dogs and cats. She enjoyed watching Harry Potter, the Twilight series, Vampire movies, cooking and old TV shows, Chuck Norris and Bob Ross. She adored her nieces and nephews and loved them as if they were her own.
Brittany is survived by her mother, Kimberly (John) Etheridge (nee Hart); father, Robert (Jo Hutson) Smith Sr.; brothers, Robert (Lindsey) Smith, Jr. and Christopher Redel; sisters, Courtney (nee Redel) Ivey and Cameron Redel; step-sisters, Megan and Melissa Etheridge; grandmother, Linda McIe; nephews, Bentley and Austin Smith; nieces, Charlee and Reagan Ivey; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins and Arthur Redel (Brittany’s stepfather), who helped raise Brittany throughout childhood and always called him Dad.
She was preceded in death by maternal grandfather, Franklin Hart, Sr. and paternal grandparents, Meri Sue and Francis Smith.
Friends will be received Thursday, March 19, 2026 from 10:00 am until the time of a 12:00 pm service at Dicken, Dovin & Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 323 Middle Avenue, Elyria with Pastor Sam Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Brookdale Cemetery, Elyria.
