Carol M. McAtee (nee Brotherton), 78, of West Salem and formerly of Elyria and Creston, died April 7, 2021 at Danbury Senior Living, Wooster, OH. She was born July 13, 1942 in Elyria. Carol was a 30 year member of Canaan Freewill Baptist Church in Creston. Her interests included spending time with her grandchildren, enjoying the outdoors, gardening and crafts. Carol is survived by her daughter, Cheryl (Tony) Rodak of West Salem; son, Robert (Anne) McAtee of Wooster; 9 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Ernest L. McAtee, Jr. in 2012; sons, James in 1977 and Paul in 1990; grandson, Elijah in 2015; parents, Henry and Bertha Brotherton; and brothers, Clifford and Jack Brotherton. Friends will be received Monday, April 12, 2021 from 11:00 am until the time of a 1:00 pm service at Dicken Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 323 Middle Avenue, Elyria. Pastor Travis McKenzie will officiate. Burial will be in Brookdale Cemetery, Elyria.
