Carol M. Roser, 91, of Elyria, died January 17, 2013 at Northridge Health Center, North Ridgeville.She was born December 9, 1921 in New Philadelphia, OH, where she was a 1939 graduate of New Philadelphia High School. She graduated from Wittenberg University in 1943 and received a masters degree from the University of North Dakota in 1961.She taught at the Department of Defense Dependent Schools in Japan and Germany and also in the Tuscarawas, Allen and Marion County schools before moving to Elyria in 1954. Carol taught for a total of 34 years, the last 22 at Elyria High School from where she retired in 1978. She was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church; Kappa Delta Sorority; The Delta Kappa Gamma Society International and the Lorain County and Ohio Retired Teachers Associations. She was a former member of Elyria YWCA and Holly League.Carol is survived by nieces Lois J. Smutz of Salt Lake City, Utah and Betty J. Smutz of Dayton, OH and a friend John J. (Carolyn Elliott) Graf of Avon, OH.She was preceded in death by her parents Charles and Estella Roser and a sister Gladys L Smutz.Friends will be received Monday, January 21, 2013 from 10 a.m. until the time of an 11:00 a.m. service at Dicken Funeral Home, 323 Middle Ave., Elyria. Reverend Paul E. Jaster will officiate. Burial will be in East Avenue Cemetery, New Philadelphia, OH.
