Chad W. Smith, 63, lifelong resident of Elyria, died Friday, November 15, 2013 at EMH Healthcare after suffering an apparent heart attack.He was born December 29, 1949 in Elyria, was a 1968 graduate of Elyria High School and attended GM Technical School in 1969.He served with the U.S. Army in Vietnam during the Vietnam War.Chad was employed with Eaton Fabricating in Grafton for 10 years and was formerly employed in telecommunications. He was a member of Amvets Post 32 in Elyria and enjoyed fishing, riding motorcycles,working on cars and camping.Chad is survived by his wife of 42 years, Vicky Lynne (nee Krugman); son Jeremiah Smith and daughter Bridgett (David) Jason; four grandchildren; mother Eleanor Mae Smith and sister Claudia Nidiffer, all of Elyria.He was preceded in death by his father Karl W. Snuff: Smith in 2006.Friends will be received Tuesday, November 19, 2013 from 4:00 p.m. until the time of a 6:00 p.m. service at Dicken Funeral Home, 323 Middle Ave. Elyria, OH 44035.Pastor Troy Smith, associate pastor at Pilgrim United Church of Christ, Elyria will officiate.
