Charles Dean Bukowski, 68, of Elyria, was received into heaven March 28, 2015 at his home, surrounded by his family after a brief courageous battle with cancer.He was born January 23, 1947 in Brownsville, PA and has been a resident of Elyria since the age of 7.Dean had attended Elyria High School and was employed as a truck driver for York International for 33 years and then for several years at All Pro Freight, retiring in 2009. From 1966 to 1969, Dean served three tours of duty in Vietnam as a medic with the U.S. Army. He was a member of Elyria V.F.W. no. 1079 and for many years played fast pitch softball in Elyria and Lorain. In addition to baseball, he enjoyed traveling and spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.Dean is survived by his wife of 42 years, Sharon (nee Kershaw); daughters Amy Bukowski of North Ridgeville and Kelly Capwill of Elyria; grandchildren Alyssa, Kaitlyn, Tierra, Buffie and Kyle; great grandchildren Madelyn and Baylee; mother Ellen Elizabeth Bukowski of Camden, SC; brothers Joseph (Barbara) Bukowski of Lugoff, SC, J. George Bukowski of Denver, CO, Arthur (Marcia) Bukowski of Socorro, NM and James (Ruth) Bukowski of Micco, FL; sister Barbara Collins of Lugoff, SC and many nieces, nephews; sister and brother-in-laws.Dean was preceded in death by his father Joseph. There will be no public services. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family C/O CommStar Credit Union, 832 Cleveland St., Elyria, OH 44035.
