Charles E. Williams, 70, of Elyria, died May 15, 2016 after a long illness.He was born October 8, 1945 in Elyria and attended St. Agnes Elementary School and Elyria High School. Chuck was a U.S. Army veteran from 1967 to 1969 and was wounded while serving in Vietnam.He was employed by the City of Elyria Street Department for 31 years, retiring in 1996. Charles was a member of Elyria V.F.W. Post 1079 and Elyria American Legion Post 12. He enjoyed traveling to the National Parks, casinos, boating, fishing and golfing.Chuck is survived by his wife of 45 years, Marti (nee Rogal); sister Diana Johnson of Satsuma, FL; sisters-in-law Carol Williams of Grafton and Mary Ann (Don) Nehez of Mentor; brother-in-law Richard Rogal of Belton, TX; nieces, nephews; great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents Lawrence and Eleanore Williams; brother, Jerry L. Williams; nephews Larry J. Williams and Edward C. Williams; brothers-in-law John Capp and Richard Johnson.A graveside service will be Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at St Mary Cemetery, 7284 Lake Ave., Elyria. The Reverend Jeff Sweitzer, Chaplain of Hospice of the Western Reserve will officiate and Elyria V.F.W. Post 1079 will present military honors. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Friendship Animal Protective League, 8303 Murray Ridge Rd., Elyria, OH 44035; The American Cancer Society, 10501 Euclid Ave., Cleveland, OH 44106 or Ames Family Hospice of the Western Reserve, 17876 St. Clair Ave. Cleveland, OH 44110.
