Charles Joseph LogarCharles Joseph Logar, 74 of Amherst passed away suddenly October 1, 2018. He was born July 7, 1944 in Lorain, OH and was a 1963 graduate of Clearview High School. Chuck served in the US Army before enlisting in the US Navy as an Electricians Mate aboard the USS Summit County (LST 1146) and the USS Wasp (CVS 18) during the Vietnam war.He was a member of St. Peters United Church of Christ, Vermilion Fish & Game Assoc., American Legion, VFW, Eagles, Knights of Columbus, AmVets and NRA.He treasured his family and friends and enjoyed target shooting, travel, wood carving, reading, cooking and playing cards. In younger years he enjoyed skiing, fishing, gardening, and carpentry. He was warm, outgoing, knowledgeable, creative and willing to lend a hand without being asked.His memory will be cherished by his loving wife of thirty eight years, Patricia Logar (nee: Nau); son, George (Mari) Logar; daughter, Crystal Slack; grandchildren, Alexis Cheers, Joshua & Sophie Logar; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Carl & June Nau; siblings, Elaine (George) Rusinko, Karen (Joe) Paukst and Richard Mager; sister-in-law, Diane (Carl) Baker; brothers-in-law, Carl (Debbie) Nau and Dale Nau; nieces; nephews and dear friends.He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Grace Logar and step-mother, Magdalene Logar; sisters, Patricia More and Grace Albright and a brother, Robert Mager.A celebration of Chuck’s life will be Sunday October 14, 2018, from 1:00 to 4:00 pm at the Amherst VFW #1662, 165 Cleveland Avenue, Amherst, Ohio 44001. Arrangements were in the care of Dicken Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Elyria.
