Charles Jack Raynor, 100, a lifetime Elyria resident died January 5, 2012 at Keystone Pointe in LaGrange. He was born September 25, 1911 on Northrup Street in Elyria to Cora Bell (nee: Trumble) Raynor and John R. Raynor. After Charles formal education in Elyria, he joined and served in the Civilian Conservation Corps which sent him to California until 1933. Charles returned to Elyria and was employed at Timm Springs Company, also at Amherst Metal Products where he retired at the age of 75. Charles married the love of his life, Mabel M. Smith December 5th, 1936. Together, they had twins, Barbara and Nancy. He was a member of Washington Avenue Christian Church and a 60 year member of Elyria Lodge # 787 F& AM. Charley had many interests and hobbies in his life including; model railroading, clock collecting, annual family vacationing out West, new cars every three years or so, taking long walks, joking around with his grandkids, and reading books. He was a Civil War buff and according to the local Elyria Newspapers, Charles was an excellent softball pitcher in the city league. Charles leaves to cherish his memories daughters; Barbara A. (Roy) Sparks and Nancy M. (Robert) Kyle; grandchildren; Ronald J. (Diana) Sparks, Deborah M. (Mitchell) Piskur, Susan M. Kyle and Denis R. Kyle; great grandchildren; Ronald Sparks, Jr., Jeffrey Sparks and Shane Piskur and a great-great grandson; Austin Sparks and a sister; Marie (Ted) Kingen.He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years; Mabel M. (nee: Smith) August 11, 1994; brothers; Donald and Bert Garrison and a sister; Mary Miller. Friends will be received Sunday January 8, 2012 from noon until 2:00 PM at Dicken Funeral Home, 323 Middle Avenue, Elyria. A Masonic Service will be conducted at 2:00 PM by Elyria Lodge # 787 F&AM. A funeral service will follow immediately with Reverend Janet A. Long officiating. A committal service will be Monday 10:00 AM January 9, 2012 at Brookdale Cemetery Elyria. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Western Reserve 2173 North Ridge Road East Suite H Lorain, Ohio 44055.
