Charles Garay Obituary
Charles M. “Skip” Garay, 72, of Elyria, died March 26, 2014 at University Hospitals of Cleveland. He was born September 6, 1941 in Filbert, WV and was a 1959 graduate of Elyria High School. After graduation, he had served with the U.S. National Guard.Skip served as superintendent of the City of Elyria Communications Department, retiring in 2006. He had also previously been an instructor of electronics at E.T.I. in Cleveland. Charles was a member of First Baptist Church of LaGrange, where he was former treasurer and taught a men’s Sunday school class. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Esther M. (nee Howard); son Timothy M. (Kathy) Garay of Delphos, Ohio; grandchildren Michael, Casey, Aaron and Jacob Garay; great grandson, Hayden Garay and a sister-in-law Gayle Garay of Amherst. He was preceded in death by his father Steven Garay; mother Mary Garay Elkin and a brother George Garay. Friends will be received Friday, March 28, 2014 from 4 to 8 p.m. at First Baptist Church of LaGrange, 200 Church St., LaGrange, Ohio. A funeral service will be Saturday, March 29, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in the church with Reverend Noel Hack and Dr. Michael Peck, officiating. Burial will be in River Road Cemetery, LaGrange Township. Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church of LaGrange or a charity of donor’s choice. Dicken Funeral Home, Elyria is handling arrangements.
