Clarence PrechtelClarence B. Casey Prechtel, 95, of Elyria, died January 10, 2014.He was born November 11, 1918 in North Ridgeville, had lived thirty nine years in Elyria and several years in Vermillion before becoming a permanent resident of Tarpon Springs, Florida, returning to Elyria in 2013. For sixty years Casey was an operating engineer and a member of International Union of Operating Engineers Local 18 in Cleveland. He had traveled extensively throughout the United States and while in Florida enjoyed spending time at the beach and feeding the squirrels. Casey is survived by a son, Wayne R. (Mary Jo) Prechtel of Elyria; daughter, Beverly A. Prechtel of Oberlin; daughter-in-law, Judi Prechtel of LaGrange; five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.He was preceded in death by wives, Marie in 1976 and Mildred in 2002; son, Allen E. Prechtel; great granddaughter, Abigail Prechtel; parents, Willis and Bertha Prechtel; brothers, Kenneth and Ralph Prechtel and sisters, Eleanor Roe and Ruby Dean.A private graveside service will be Monday January 13, 2014 at St. Mary Cemetery, Elyria. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of choice. Dicken Funeral Home, Elyria is handling arrangements.
