Dale L. Martin 66, of Wellington, passed away February 28, 2019. He was born May 22, 1952 in Cleveland, OH, to Wilfred L. “Larry” and Donna C. Martin (nee Fortin).Dale grew up in Elyria and was a 1970 graduate of Elyria High School. During his school years, he enjoyed participating in 4-H and was a member of DeMolay. Dale spent his career, serving his community, as a deputy and Sergeant deputy for the Lorain County Sheriff’s Office retiring after 29 years of service. He was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #54.He was a loving and dedicated husband, father, and grandfather who enjoyed horseback riding, fixing up cars, traveling, camping and most of all spending time with his family.Dale is survived by his wife of 43 years, Barbara L. Martin (nee Strohsack); children, Jennifer L. (Brian) Cochran of Wellington and Darren L. (Mary Nasipak) Martin of Elyria; grandchildren, Deric Martin, Josiah Nasipak, Preston and Anastasia Cochran; siblings, Cheryl M. (Kenneth) Greszler of Oberlin, Laura J. (Robert) McCoy of McChord AFB, WA and Glenn P. Martin of Elyria Township.Dale was preceded in death by his parents, Wilfred L. “Larry” and Donna C. Martin (nee Fortin).Friends will be received Friday March 8, 2019 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at Dicken Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 323 Middle Ave., Elyria, OH. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society at www.nationalmssociety.org.
