Daniel “Dan” M. Simpson, 57, of Elyria, died April 30, 2017. He was born February 9, 1960 in Stuttgart, Germany where his parents were stationed with the U.S. Army. Dan was a graduate of Northrup High School in Fort Wayne, Indiana and since 1995 has been a resident of Elyria. Dan was employed as a chef at The Unicorn Restaurant, Grafton and formerly at Elyria Country Club. Dan was always ready to extend a helping hand and will be missed by family and friends. He brought joy to the lives of others by sharing his gift of cooking, always with a smile. He loved to garden and could grow anything with his magic touch. His garden brought joy to others and had been featured on the Master Garden Show of Lorain County.Dan is survived by his mother, Joanna Simpson of Elyria; sister, Karen L. (Erik) Conover of Grand Rapids, Michigan; brother, Gerald M. Simpson of Naples, Maine; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.He was preceded in death by his father, Gerald L. Simpson and a sister, Teresa J. Nativio.Friends will be received Saturday May 6, 2017 from 10:00 AM until the time of an 11:00 AM service in the chapel at Saint Jude Church, 590 Poplar Street, Elyria. Reverend Father Frank P. Kosem will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Wounded Warrior Project, PO Box 758516, Topeka, KS, 66675.
