Darlene D. Brooky, 88, of New Russia Township, died May 15, 2023. She was born July 24, 1934 in Pittsburgh, PA and was a 1952 graduate of Turtle Creek High School. Darlene moved to Lorain County in 1954 and was a former Elyria resident. For 20 years, she was employed in the business office at Elyria Memorial Hospital, retiring in 1997. She was a member of St. Mary Church, Elyria and a former member of the Elyria YWCA. Darlene is survived by her husband of 70 years, Charles E.; children, James (Denise) of Cartersville, GA, David (Alice) of St. Augustine, FL, Sandra Tuttle of St. Augustine, FL and Chuck of Oberlin; 8 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Emil and Anna Johnson and 7 siblings. Friends will be received Friday, May 19, 2023 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Dicken Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 323 Middle Avenue, Elyria. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, May 20, 2023 at 1:00 pm at St. Mary Church, 320 Middle Avenue, Elyria. Reverend Charles T. Diedrick will be the celebrant. Interment will be Monday, May 22, 2023 at 11:00 am in New Russia Township Cemetery.
