David Spieth Obituary
David A. Spieth, 52, of Elyria, died October 19, 2021. He was born January 30, 1969 in US Army hospital Fort Ord Salinas, California. He was a 1987 graduate of Elyria Christian Academy, served in the US Army Reserves and graduated from Lorain County Community College in 2004 with an associate’s degree in criminal justice. For 10 years, he had been employed at US Steel as a crane operator. David coached soccer for GESA and AASL. He was a JV assistant coach at Elyria High School in 2012 and also had been a varsity coach for First Baptist Christian School. In addition, he coached 3vs3 soccer tournaments which traveled all over the country, making it to the National tournament at Disney. David was a member of First Baptist Church, LaGrange where he was active in junior church and Awana. He earned his Shodan first degree black belt in 2000. He loved watching sports, especially Duke basketball. David is survived by his wife of 26 years, Shelly M. (nee Holtzman); children, Grant, Elizabeth and Hailey; father, Ralph A. Spieth; sisters, Irma (Doug) Pritchett, Monica (Tony) Klingshirn, Stacy (Allan) Muc and Debbie (Kevin) Johnson and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Linda (nee Branch) Spieth. Friends will be received Monday, October 25, 2021 from 4:00 pm until the time of a 7:00 pm service at First Baptist Church, 200 Church Street, LaGrange. Pastor Noel Hack and Dr. Michael Peck will officiate.
