David Meredith Obituary
David E. Meredith David E. Meredith, 84, of Elyria, died July 29, 2019. He was born August 20, 1934 in Lorain and attended Lorain High School. From 1954-1956, he was a proud member of the US Marine Corp serving in Korea. For 34 years, David was employed on the bi-level at the Lorain Ford Assembly Plant, retiring in 1989. He was a captain for the Elyria Police Department Auxiliary Unit, a former member of the Elyria West High School Band Boosters, and a member of Community of Faith United Church of Christ. Other interests included NASCAR, WWE Wrestling, and attending Cleveland Indians games. He was an OSU football enthusiast and at one time attended four consecutive years of home games and two Rose Bowl games in Pasadena, CA. David is survived by sons, David A. (Debra) Meredith of Elyria, and Douglas E. Meredith of Brunswick; grandchildren, Bradley Meredith, Tayler (fiancé Matthew Gump) Meredith, Jared Meredith, Stephen Baytos V, and Sydney Baytos; sister, Florence Garner; brothers, Dan (Linda) Meredith and Ron Meredith. He is preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Anna M. Meredith in 2012; parents, Edward and Myrtle Meredith; and a brother, Maurice “Bud” Meredith. Friends will be received Thursday, August 1, 2019 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Dicken Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 323 Middle Ave., Elyria. A funeral service will be Friday, August 2, 2019 at 11:00 am in the funeral home with Reverend Thomas French officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon where Elyria VFW # 1079 will present military honors.
