David Smith Obituary
David E. Smith 90, of Elyria, died, December 29, 2022 after a one year illness. He was born April 21, 1932 in Elyria, was a 1950 graduate of Elyria High School and a 1953 graduate of Cedarville College. David accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal savior September 21, 1941 at First Baptist Church, Elyria. David loved faithfully attending church his whole life, reading his bible and praying daily. He was a former well loved Pastor to several churches, the last being First Baptist Church, Lorain. He was a member of Church of the Open Door and leader of The Ambassador Bible Class, taught Sunday school and sang in the choir. He loved music all his life and in their younger years he and his wife enjoyed dining out and traveling to Amish Country. David is survived by his wife of twenty four years, Gail; children, Deborah Faith Smith Roh of New York, Thomas Eugene Smith and Daniel David Smith both of Mississippi; five grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren and a sister, Faith Smith Meade of Elyria. He was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene B. and Miriam Smith (nee Shaw). Friends will be received Thursday, January 5, 2023 from 11:00 AM until the time of a 12:30 PM service at Dicken Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 323 Middle Avenue, Elyria. Pastor Bob Wickens will officiate. Burial will follow in Brookdale Cemetery, Elyria.
