David E. Hanlin's Obituary
David E. Hanlin, age 72, passed away on June 26, 2026.
Born on April 28, 1954, in Elyria, Ohio, David graduated from Elyria High School, Class of 1972. He spent most of his life in Elyria. He trained at Lorain County Community College and entered the IT and computer service industry as a service technician. During his early career, he lived and worked for a few years in New Hampshire and then in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, returning to Elyria in the 1990’s to be closer to family.
David had a lifelong love of reading and was an avid fan of science fiction. Those who knew him appreciated his thoughtful and kind nature, intelligence, and love of books.
He is survived by his siblings, Nancy (Mark) Ballas and Ron (Sue) Hanlin; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Bonita Hanlin (née Richey); and sisters, Sandy Spencer and Judie (Bill) Brennan.
Private services will be held at a later date.
