David Noren Obituary
David L. Noren, 74, of Elyria, died June 24, 2023 at Ames Family Hospice, Westlake. He was born November 18, 1948 in Manchester, CT and was a 1966 graduate of Elyria High School. From 1970-1972, Dave served with the US Army. After his discharge from the service, he was employed as turfgrass manager at Forest Hills Golf Center, where in 1977 he shot a six-under par 29 on the back-nine, breaking the course record. He had also recorded several holes in one. For many years, he worked as an electrician, frequently installing cable for home builders. Dave was a 50-year life member of Elyria Elks Lodge #465 and was Exulted Ruler in 1991 and 2016, Elyria Elk of the Year in 1994 and Ohio Elks Association Elk of the Year in 2016. For many years, he has been the chairman of the cerebral palsy program for which the annual golf outing was named in his honor. In 1993, Dave’s mother was named Elk Mother of the Year. He was also a member and past commander of Elyria American Legion Post 12 and Man of the Year in 2011. Dave is survived by his soul mate of 39 years, Kaaren Sand; brothers, Robert (Becky) and William Noren, both of FL; nieces, Page and Molly; 2 great-nieces and numerous members of Karen’s family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Nancy Noren. Friends will be received Thursday, June 29, 2023 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Dicken Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 323 Middle Avenue, Elyria. An Elyria American Legion service will be Friday, June 30, 2023 at 11:00 am in the funeral home followed by an 11:30 am Elyria Elks Service.
