Dee T. Latimer (nee Tonry), 95, of Elyria, died February 23, 2016 at her home.She was born February 19, 1921 in Elyria and was a 1938 graduate of Elyria High School. For 50 years, she was a resident of Phoenix, Arizona, where she made her career in the insurance business and was one of two women to first earn the C.P.C.U. Designation in Arizona. While in Phoenix, she and her husband were active in the Arizona Humane Society. Dee returned to Elyria in 1996 and was a member of First Church of Christ Scientist in Rocky River. Dee was a generous and loving sister and aunt and cherished time with her family. She was an avid bridge player and enjoyed playing cards with family and friends.Dee is survived by sisters Roberta Bryner of Warrenton, Missouri, Lola Kendall, Audrey Miller and Carol Lakocy and adopted sister Phyllis Gales, all of Elyria; many nieces, nephews; great and great-great nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, R. Gordon Latimer in 2001; parents Joseph B. and Lola M. Tonry, Sr. and brothers Joseph B. and Eugene A. Tonry.A graveside service will be Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township. Mrs. Clara Hosler will be the Reader. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Erie Shores Humane Society, P.O. Box 1041 Elyria 44036 or Friendship Animal Protective League, 8303 Murray Ridge Rd., Elyria 44035.
