Dennis L. Jackson, 86, of Elyria, died peacefully September 9, 2014 at West Bay Center in Westlake.He was born July 18, 1928 in Marlinton, WV. He served with the U.S. Army and was part of the Occupation Troops, stationed in Japan. Dennis was employed for over thirty years at Ford Motor Company, retiring from the Avon plant in 1990. He is s member of Elyria V.F.W. Post 1079 and Elyria American Legion Post 12. Dennis enjoyed golfing and golfing excursions with his wife and hunting and fishing with his sons.Dennis is survived by his wife of 65 years, Dorothy L.; sons Danny (Debra) Jackson of Vermilion, Douglas (Karon) Jackson of Marlinton, WV and Donald (Mari) Jackson of South Amherst; eight grandchildren two great grandchildren a sister Stella Mundell of Stanton, VA and several nieces and nephews.Dennis was preceded in death by his son David L. Jackson in 2007; brother Donald Jackson; sisters Della Layman, Opal Weatherholt and Creola Boling and parents Dennis and Mary Jackson.Friends will be received Friday, September 12, 2014 from 4 to 7 P.M at Dicken Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 323 Middle Ave., Elyria. A private graveside service will be Monday at Brookdale Cemetery with Reverend Dalton D. Love officiating. Elyria V.F.W. Post 1079 will present military honors.
