Diane Strehle Obituary
Diane M. Strehle, (nee Garrett), 63, of Elyria, died June 16, 2017 after a brief illness. She was born February 1, 1954 in Akron, OH and was a graduate of Ellett High School. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in education from Akron University and a Masters degree in education from Ashland University. For 35 years, Diane taught language arts at Elyria High School and Eastern Heights School, retiring in 2007. She was a member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and Church of the Open Door. Diane is survived by her husband of 35 years, Joseph D. Strehle; daughter Jennifer (Adam) Shields of Lorain; son Matthew Strehle of Elyria; step-daughter Patricia Strehle of Arizona; grandchildren Lillian, Abigail, Maizy, Justine, Riley, Joseph and Evan and a sister, Denise Garrett of Texas.She was preceded in death by her parents Durward E. and Mary J. Garrett. Beta Sigma Phi Sorority will conduct a 5:30 p.m. service Monday, June 19, 2017 at Dicken Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 323 Middle Ave., Elyria where visitation will follow from 6 to 8 p.m.A funeral service will be Tuesday, June 20, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home with Pastor Bob Wickens of Church of the Open Door officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of donor’s choice.
