Donald E. Jones, 87, of Elyria, passed away May 20, 2022 at Life Care Center of Elyria. He was born March 14, 1935 in Elyria and was a 1954 graduate of Elyria High School. He retired from Ray Gidich Heating and Air Conditioning, Lorain as a sheet metal journeyman. Don attended Trinity Evangelical Free Church in Amherst. He was an avid historical reader, especially about the Civil War. He was a gun collector and enjoyed vacationing and walking the beach at Topsail Island, NC. Don is survived by son, Robert (Debbie) Jones of Elyria; daughter, Donna (Mark) Tanner of Randle, WA; grandchildren, Rachel and Michael Jones, Nikki Jones and James Tanner; great-grandchildren, Mia, Gianna and Kassidy; niece, Christine (Ron) Wagers of Elyria; nieces, nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Roberta E. (nee Copas) in 2020; parents, John and Alti (nee Shroyer) Jones; son, Thomas Jones; sister, Barbara Thompson; a brother, John Jones and his beloved pet cat, Annie. Friends will be received Wednesday, May 25, 2022 from 11:00 am until the time of a 12:00 pm service at Dicken Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 323 Middle Avenue, Elyria with Pastor Vern Giesbrecht officiating. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township. Memorial contributions may be made to Friendship Animal Protective League, 8303 Murray Ridge Road, Elyria, Ohio 44035 or a charity of choice. There are no gallery images.
