Donald Wallhead, 76, of Elyria Township, died peacefully Tuesday, January 15, 2013 at his home, surrounded by his family.He was born May 16, 1936 in Elyria and has lived most of his life in Elyria Township. He worked for Ford Motor Company in Lorain for 30 years, retiring in 1989 and was known as Gator by some of his co workers.He was a U.S. Army veteran, who served in Japan. He enjoyed spending time with family, reading the newspaper and flying his private plane.Don is survived by his wife of 53 years, Mary (nee Wauthier); sons Ron (Kathy) Wallhead and Wayne (Deborah) Wallhead, both of Elyria; grandchildren Raymond and Daniel Wallhead and Sara and Matthew Wallhead; great grandchildren Xander, Paxton and Morgan Wallhead; brother William (Diane) Wallhead; sisters Arlene (D.A.) Knepper, Audrey (Jack) Price and Barbara (Harris) Opfer and many nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents William and Margaret (nee Toth) Wallhead.Friends will be received Friday, January 18, 2013 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the Dicken Funeral Home, 323 Middle Ave. Elyria. Visitation will also be Saturday, January 19, 2013 from 10 a.m. until the time of an 11:00 a.m. funeral service in the funeral home with Reverend Dennis Schmidt officiating.
