Dorothy A. Thompson (nee Plato), 90, of Elyria, died December 7, 2021 after brief illness. She was born June 4, 1931 in Elyria where she was a life long resident and was a 1949 graduate of Elyria High School. For twelve years she was employed as a server at Howard Johnsons restaurant from where she retired. Dorothy was a member of St. Agnes Church and enjoyed playing bingo, but her favorite passion was being a devoted wife, mother and super grandma. Dorothy is survived by children, Patricia (Mike) Ross, Jack (Diane) Thompson, Sandra (Allen) Peters, David (Susan) Thompson, Brenda (Rocky) Edmonds and Sheryl (Gary) Jones; foster daughter, Robin (Jim) Oates; numerous grandchildren; great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; brothers, Joseph (Marilyn) Plato and Stanley (Sandy) Plato. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leslie “Jim” Thompson in 1996; son, James Thompson; daughter, Deborah Gladish; parents, Alexander and Antonia Plato; brothers, Carl and Leo Plato and sisters, Joanne Marozsan and Tonia Harrell. Friends will be received Monday December 13, 2021 from 9:30 until the time of an 11:00 AM service at Dicken Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 323 Middle Avenue, Elyria. Reverend Charles T. Diedrick will officiate. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Elyria.
