Dorothy J. Willoughby RyanDorothy J. Willoughby Ryan, 91, of Elyria peacefully passed into the presence of her Heavenly Father in her home August 2, 2017. Dorothy was born December 16, 1925 in Frisco, Indiana to The Rev Russell and Nellie (nee: Stevens) Burnes. Dorothy was formerly employed in the customer service department of Sears from where she retired. After her retirement she enjoyed volunteering at Elyria Memorial Hospital and Abbe Road Baptist Church, where she was a member. She loved spending time with her children and all her grandchildren.Dorothy is survived by daughters, E. Darlene Handyside and Jeanne Dicken both of Elyria; son, Richard (Kim) Willoughby of San Antonio, Texas; eight grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren.She was preceded by husbands, Francis C. Willoughby in 1990 and Clyde K. Ryan in 2007; grandson, Christopher R. Willoughby in 2006; her parents, four brothers and two sisters.Friends will be received Monday August 7, 2017 from 11:30 AM until the time of a 1:30 PM service at Dicken Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 323 Middle Avenue, Elyria. Reverend Cal Searles will officiate. Burial will be in Brookdale Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 8001 Sweet Valley Drive, Valley View, OH 44125 or Abbe Road Baptist Church, 670 Abbe Road, Elyria.
