Dorothy S. Green (nee Saywell), 97, of Elyria, died Monday, September 26, 2011 at The Abbewood in Elyria. She was born May 10, 1914 in Pawtucket, RI and moved to Elyria in 1919 and was a 1932 graduate of Elyria High School.From 1932 to 1939, she was employed as the secretary to the Superintendent of Elyria City Schools. Dorothy was a 92 year member of St. Andrews Episcopal Church, where she taught Sunday School, sang in the choir and was a member of the altar guild. She was a former member of Forthurs of the Elyria YWCA, The Round Table Club, The Four OClock Club and Elyria Country Club. She also enjoyed reading, playing bridge and traveling. Dorothy is survived by her sons John F. Green of Lexington, KY and William R. (Elizabeth) Green of Cornelius, NC; four grandchildren and a special friend and loving caregiver, Ruth Brown.She was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Frederick S. Green in 1982; sister Marjorie A. Penfound in 1990; nephew Ronald Penfound and parents Alfred and Julia Saywell. Friends will be received Wednesday, September 28, 2011 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Dicken Funeral Home, 323 Middle Ave. Elyria. A funeral service will be Thursday, 10:30 a.m. September 29, 2011 at St. Andrews Episcopal Church, 300 Third St., Elyria. Reverend Catherine L. Wright will officiate.
