Edith Pearl Williams Edith Pearl Williams, 95, died peacefully February 11, 2019 in Port Charlotte, FL where she had resided for 11 years. Born July 7, 1923 in Thursday, WV, and had lived in Elyria for over 60 years. She began an award winning teaching career in a one room schoolhouse in Gilmer County, WV even before earning her degree from Glenville State College. She also spent 33 years teaching second grade in Avon, OH. She enjoyed the competition of golf and cards and was a skilled seamstress and quilter. Her true love, however, was her family whom she served with devotion and great strength throughout her lifetime. Edith will forever be remembered by her sons, Larry (Jeanne) Williams and Douglas (Shirley) Williams; granddaughters, Missy, Melanie, and Megan; 5 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandson; and sisters Mary White and Ruby Massey. She is preceded in death by her husband in 1998, Eugene F. Williams; parents William G. and Bertie (nee Burwell) Elder; sister, Mabel; and brothers, Chester and Doy. A graveside service will be 11:00 am Saturday, August 3, 2019 at Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst, OH.
